Do you want God to Bless South Africa?
Every year we lose more pre-born babies to abortion than the combined death toll of crime and car accidents. Since 1 February 1997, over 2,000,000 babies have been killed in South Africa, by abortion, mostly with taxpayers’ money. “Do not pollute the land where you are. Bloodshed pollutes the land and atonement cannot be made for the land on which blood has been shed, except by the blood of the one who shed it.” Numbers 35:33
27 years of Legalised Abortion in South Africa
Legalised abortion is a national disgrace. Tuesday 1st of February 2024will mark the 27th anniversary of the legalisation of abortion on demand in South Africa. For this reason, many Christians who respect the Sanctity of Life will be observing Sunday, 28 January as a day of Prayer and Repentance for the national sin of abortion. Pastors throughout the country will be preaching on the Sanctity of Life on Sanctity Life Sunday and congregations in every province will join in prayers of repentance for the national sin of abortion. "If My people who are called by My Name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from Heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14

Choosing Life
In 1959, while pregnant with me, my mother, Ingrid Hammond, was advised by a gynaecologist at St Josephs Hospital to abort me. Because my mother had been taking the thalidomide wonder drug which suppressed morning sickness symptoms, and amidst the hysteria as thalidomide babies were born horribly deformed, without arms and legs, not only was abortion being tolerated but even recommended in cases of people who had been taking the evidently deforming thalidomide. My mother was a nurse who won a national award for nursing in England. She took the Florence Nightingale pledge seriously and had dedicated her life to serving others. She refused to consider abortion and called for a hospital chaplain to pray for her and her unborn baby. As you can see, by the grace of God, I have both arms and legs. “Choose Life so that you and your children may live” Deuteronomy 30:19
“For You created my innermost being; You knit me together in my mother’s womb…my frame was not hidden from You when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, Your eyes saw my unformed body…” Psalm 139:13-16

Cape Town for Christ
On Wednesday, 9 August, which was a public holiday in South Africa, we mobilised 5 teams, to conduct Women's Day Evangelistic outreaches in Malmesbury, Cape Town Gardens, Tableview beachfront, Plumstead, Sea Point promenade and Bellville. Justin designed our striking new Stop the Traffic leaflet https://www.christianaction.org.za/images/20230802-StopTheTraffick-ScreenVersion96Medium-JF-v1411.pdf?fbclid=IwAR0Tf4bXsB2Uak1TSx2lHZ4HOn0FejhRm3LQvCKnbZP6nqjlDjdh8W45v_4 which were well received. Collectively, we distributed thousands of Stop the Traffick leaflets, World Missionary Press Gospel booklets and Evangelistic leaflets and had the joy of counselling and praying with a number of responsive people, including with Muslims. “Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in Psalms and Hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.” Colossians 3:16 up

“Modern slavery.” It sounds like a paradox. Hasn’t humanity progressed? Didn’t we abandon this barbaric practice centuries ago?
Didn't Christian Reformers like William Wilberforce legislate against such cruelty over 212 years ago? So we had thought. But, with over 42 million enslaved people across the world (a US$150 billion per year industry), human trafficking is back and it is rife today.
Regardless of nationality, victims are systematically stripped of their identity, battered into gruesome submission, and made to perform humiliating sexual acts on up to 30 strangers every night. Most are held in makeshift jail cells, forced to take heavy doses of illegal drugs, and monitored very closely. On average, victims thrown into such ghastly oppression are 13-years-old. Some are abducted outright, while others are lured out of poverty, romantically seduced, or sold by their families.
